Trauma

For many years I have been employed as an on-call trauma counsellor providing crisis intervention counselling for employees in the corporate sector, and for accident and injury cases within a legal context.
Traumatic experiences (for example: verbal or physical abuse, witnessing the sudden death or illness of a colleague, having to cope with the aftermath of a break-in or sustain accidental injury) can cause a person to suffer emotional effects that endure long after the danger or shock has passed.
If trauma remains untreated Post Traumatic Stress Disorder may result with devastating consequences for the individual and their relationships, and resulting logistical and financial issues for their employers.

I am trained and qualified in EMDR and use this treatment to help clients to process traumatic or affecting experiences.
EMDR is both proven and effective in treating trauma victims quickly and thoroughly. Its success is not limited to helping people who have experienced trauma (accident, attack, abuse, danger or shock), but to almost any type of psychological complaint.
EMDR is a complex and powerful method of psychotherapy that integrates many of the most successful elements of a wide range of therapeutic approaches. It uses eye movements and other forms of rhythmical stimulation to help process traumatic or unresolved experience. Most clients are able to see some change occur after every session.
